STUDENTS´ DAY (May 23rd)

This day is commemorated in Mexico as Student´s Day; the origin of this story goes back to 1929 when a group of college students of the UNAM protested, in the Santo Domingo square,  in favor of the university autonomy on May 23^rd.

Because of this, a month later, they gained their autonomy and declared that this day would be remembered as the “Students day” and should be celebrated throughout the whole country.

Years later, we celebrate it and students don’t go to school on May 23^rd.
